Portal Cake
|
Purpose: GLaDOS promised Chell a cake if she completed all of the test chambers in the first Portal game. References to the cake on some of the murals in-game say "The cake is a lie", which became a popular meme.
Replica: Many fans of the game make real-life edible versions of the Portal Cake. What I have in mind is a sturdy non-edible version to use for display. Luckily there are many "cake replica" makers online. (Usually for small replica versions of wedding cakes)
Boomerangs
|
Purpose: Boomerangs are uncommon ranged weapons sometimes used in video games. The game I mostly have in mind, also a childhood favorite, is Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. The only other 2 games I know that also have boomerangs are Legend of Zelda and RAGE, but there's probably others.
Replica: It would probably be very simple to make some of these boomerangs considering lack of serious detail and small size. It'd be nice to have a small collection of my favorite Ty boomerangs, as well as others.
Rocko "the Radio" Ratuno
|
Purpose: Radio is an animated anthropomorphic catalin vacuum tube based dial alarm radio, with his personality being that of a loud radio announcer from the 20th century, and is often the comic relief. He's one of my favorite characters from my young childhood.
Replica: There has never been a replica of this item, and even the radio it's based off of looks nothing like it in the film. If I do request one, it would probably be a non-functioning replica with no moving parts. Although it would be cool if it were an actual functioning radio/music player, or an alarm.
Luxo Jr. Lamp
*murders the I internally* |
Purpose: First introduced in the Pixar short film titled Luxo Jr, the lamp is now the symbol of Pixar Animation as it is featured in the intro of every Pixar Animation feature film.
Replica: There are a few fans who made real-life replicas of it, while there is an authentic replica that came with the limited edition of Up but is madly expensive now.
Magic Carpet
|
Purpose: Carpet is your average run-of-the-mill rug..except for the fact that it's alive (magically?). Carpet met Aladdin in the Cave of Wonders and was apparently already good friends with Genie. Although it can't talk and doesn't have a face, damn if it doesn't have a colorful personality.
Replica: I believe there may be very few people who made (or at least attempted) a replica of the Magic Carpet, but there isn't any I know of that are 100% accurate, let alone sold.
Cat-sized Leather Boots & Hat
"Feed me, if you dare." |
Purpose/Replica: Puss in Boots' signature wee little boots, plus his feather hat? Am I the only who thinks that would be bad ass to have just for the hell of it? Maybe just his boots, I don't know. Still would be awesome. I'll try my best not to get my cats into cosplay and do a photoshoot. I'm pretty certain I saw a decent replica of his boots and sword (Yes, tiny version), but there's definitely none that are sold, at least that I know of.
Jak & Daxter's Goggles
|
Purpose: Throughout the Jak and Daxter franchise, the main duo are always seen with goggles in each game, most of the time being worn above the eyes. But in certain circumstances, they will use their goggles when they need to.
Replica: Some fans of the franchise make crude remakes of Jak's goggles, but I'm thinking of more professionally made goggles that look exactly the same. Since they're for display, it wouldn't hurt to have Daxter's smaller goggles sitting next to them.
